Bowling team to train despite disagreement<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's 19th SEA Games bowling team have
\nagreed to continue training despite a disagreement with their
\nteam manager.<\/p>\n
The 10 athletes agreed to continue their program in a meeting
\nwith Games training director Djoko Pramono on Monday.<\/p>\n
They said Sunday that they would submit a petition to the
\nbowling team manager because of disagreements at the training
\ncenter.<\/p>\n
On the team are Poppy Tambis, Lie Yu Cam, Colin Linggawan,
\nOyke Wayong, David Sitorus, Donto Nurachman, Gatot Nugroho, Ira
\nChandra, Yani Ruzgar and Lily Suhaeni.<\/p>\n
\"All matters relating to the petition letter have been handed
\nover to Pak Djoko, and we will continue training for the SEA
\nGames,\" Poppy said, as quoted by Antara.<\/p>\n
Poppy, who was a bronze medalist at the 18th SEA Games in
\nChiang Mai, Thailand, did not want to reveal the petition's
\ncontents.<\/p>\n
But Djoko said the conflict was a result of miscommunication
\nbetween the athletes and team manager Sugeng Suryadi.<\/p>\n
\"I am confident that the conflict will be settled once I meet
\nwith the Indonesian Bowling Association chairman on Tuesday,\" he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
\"Our focus is now on the SEA Games and all matters should be
\nfinalized as soon as possible, not only bowling's problems but
\nalso those of other sports,\" Djoko said.<\/p>\n
Women's soccer<\/p>\n
Djoko has also received complaints from the women's soccer
\nteam who reported that they were having to training in the rain.<\/p>\n
He said he had tried hard to arrange for the women to train at
\nKuningan stadium.<\/p>\n
\"What can I do, the Games organizer decided that the women
\nshould train at Pajajaran stadium in Bogor in the rain,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Djoko, however, said they should make the most of this
\nopportunity in case it rained during the competition.<\/p>\n
\"I only want you (athletes) to take care of your health.\"<\/p>\n
Trial matches<\/p>\n
Indonesian Soccer Association tournament director Dali Tahir
\nsaid Monday that it was not certain whether the SEA Games men's
\nsoccer team would still hold trial matches with foreign teams.<\/p>\n
\"There are still some problems which have to be discussed
\nabout bringing in foreign teams, including the Tanzanian team
\nwhich is scheduled to arrive here next week,\" he said.<\/p>\n
As for the Tanzanian team, Dali said the association would
\nlobby for the original plan to go ahead.<\/p>\n
\"We will hold a meeting on Wednesday about the plan to bring
\nin the Tanzanian team,\" Dali said.<\/p>\n
The association had earlier planned to hold a number of
\ncompetitions between the national team and teams from the United
\nArab Emirates, Australia, New Zealand, Oman and Tanzania.<\/p>\n
UAE and Australia said they could not play in Indonesia while
\nNew Zealand, Oman and Tanzania have yet to decide. (lnt)<\/p>",
