        "content": "<p>Book on riot banned<\/p>\n<p>SEMARANG: The military has banned a book on the July 27 riots<br>\nin Jakarta written by the unrecognized Alliance of Independent<br>\nJournalists and Studi Arus Informasi.<\/p>\n<p>Diponegoro Military Commander Maj. Gen. Subagyo H.S. said<br>\nyesterday the book had been banned because it was &quot;published by<br>\ninstitutions that the government does not recognize.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;If the institutions are banned, so are their products,&quot;<br>\nSubagyo said.<\/p>\n<p>The book tells of the riot that was triggered by the brutal<br>\ntakeover of the Indonesian Democratic Party headquarters by<br>\ngovernment-supported party rebels last year.<\/p>\n<p>Five people were killed, dozens of buildings burned down and<br>\n22 people went missing, according to the National Commission on<br>\nHuman Rights.<\/p>\n<p>The government has repeatedly denied allegations that it<br>\nbacked the raid on the party headquarters.
