        "content": "<p>Bomb suspects stand trial<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: A couple stood trial on Wednesday at the South<br>\nJakarta District Court charged with attempting to bomb City<br>\nPolice Headquarters on May 10.<\/p>\n<p>Sumono and Suharto, the two policemen who made the arrests,<br>\ntook the stand as witnesses at Wednesday&apos;s hearing against<br>\ndefendants Sahlan, alias Alan, a former policeman, and his wife<br>\nEni.<\/p>\n<p>The witnesses testified that Alan had confessed that the two<br>\nbombs, confiscated by the police from Eni, belonged to him. Eni<br>\nwas arrested while trying to plant the bombs. She had also<br>\ndelivered two letters threatening the National Police chief and<br>\nthe City Police chief.<\/p>\n<p>The police officers also found two other homemade bombs at<br>\nAlan&apos;s house in Citayam, Depok, upon his arrest on May 23.<\/p>\n<p>Alan said he came into possession of the bombs when he was<br>\nassigned to conflict-torn Maluku province in 2001.<\/p>\n<p>The hearing was adjourned until next week. -- JP<\/p>",
