Bomb rocks Lombok<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: A bomb explosion shocked the villagers of Bajur, in
\nLabuapi district on the resort island of Lombok, West Nusa
\nTenggara (NTB), on Saturday, as local leaders were meeting in an
\nattempt to bring calm to the region following a two-day brawl
\nbetween villages which killed nine people and injured scores of
\nothers.<\/p>\n
\"The explosion, caused by a huge firecracker, occurred at
\napproximately 10 p.m. local time Saturday,\" head of NTB Police
\nDetective Chief Comr. I Gusti Kesuma told The Jakarta Post by
\nphone from Mataram on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The blast damaged a house in Bajur village, but no casualties
\nwere reported in the incident.<\/p>\n
\"The explosion was intended to create unrest among residents.
\nThe peace talk, however, continued between civil and religious
\nleaders,\" officer Kesuma said.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the day, head of traditional security guards
\nPamswakarsa Amphibi Tuan Guru Haji (TGH) Sibawaih Mutawalli
\nissued a directive to his 172,000 members, instructing them to
\nstay calm and not to instigate violence.<\/p>\n
A clash broke out on Wednesday and continued until Thursday
\nafter four residents of Parampuan village were ambushed by a
\ngroup from Bongor, a neighboring hamlet, and other villagers
\ngrouped in the traditional security force.<\/p>\n
The neighboring villages are located in different districts.
\nBongor is in Gerung district, while Parampuan village is in
\nLabuapi district.<\/p>\n
Tension still gripped the border of Parampuan and Bongor on
\nSunday with riot police tightly guarding the area.<\/p>\n
On January 1 this year, a fierce clash between villagers of
\nBajur and Karang Genteng killed one person and left scores of
\nothers injured, including police Brig. Yulianto of West Lombok
