Bomb hoax rocks Yogyakarta<\/p>\n
YOGYAKARTA (JP): An unidentified man called the Yogyakarta
\nPolice early on Monday claiming that bombs had been planted on
\nthe campus of the University of National Development (UPN).<\/p>\n
First. Isnp. Junaidi received the call. He then reported the
\nbomb threat to center of control and operation chief Sr. Supt.
\nKaryono, who then informed the UPN campus, located in Condong
\nCatur.<\/p>\n
\"Two units of the bomb squad were immediately sent to the
\ncampus. The officers combed all corners, including the drains, of
\nthe compound. No explosives were found,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Karyono said the same person called four times. \"The last two
\ncalls the man said the bombs were ready to explode.\"<\/p>\n
He said the police had no clue about the caller's identity.
\n\"From the voice, it is clear the caller was a man.\"<\/p>\n
Sudarti, a lecturer at UPN, said that the bomb hoax did not
\ndisrupt academic activities. \"It's strange for us that the man
\ntold the police about the bombs planted on the campus. He should
\nhave informed us. Why didn't the man just detonate the bomb,
\ninstead of calling the police,\" she said.<\/p>\n
She said that only a few UPN officials knew about the bomb
\nhoax. \"No students heard about this.\" (44)<\/p>",
