Bogus policeman steals motorcycle<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): City police are currently looking for a criminal
\nbelieved to have pretended to be a policeman who deceived a
\nmotorcyclist and made away with his RX King motorcycle in South
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
City police spokesman Lt. Col. Edward Aritonang said the
\nculprit, who was wearing a police uniform, stopped Achmad, the
\nmotorcyclist, on Monday evening on Jl. Sisingamangaraja because
\nas his motorcycle headlight was broken.<\/p>\n
The \"policeman\" insisted that Achmad was violating a traffic
\nregulation and asked him to settle the matter at the South
\nJakarta police precinct, even though Achmad told the officer that
\nhe was just ticketed at the Pancoran interchange by another
\npoliceman for a similar offense.<\/p>\n
On the way to the police precinct, however, the officer
\nordered Achmad to buy cigarettes from a nearby stall. When Achmad
\nreached the stall, the officer immediately started the motorcycle
\nand sped away.<\/p>\n
Feeling cheated, Achmad reported the incident to City Police
\nheadquarters.<\/p>\n
\"Possibly he fell victim to a bad officer or a man who was
\npretending to be a police officer,\" Aritonang said. (emf)<\/p>",
