Bogor traders set up temporary stalls<\/p>\n
BOGOR, West Java (JP): Traders from the Kebon Kembang market
\nthat burned down last March are now setting up temporary stalls
\naround the former market site.<\/p>\n
Traders yesterday began to change the wooden planks covering
\nthe stall floors and walls to ceramic flooring and concrete
\nwalls.<\/p>\n
\"I want my stall to look nice and neat,\" said 32-year-old
\nAhmad, who sells ceramics.<\/p>\n
Another trader who sells sandals and shoes, Yadi, said he is
\nupgrading his stall for reasons of security. The original four-
\nsquare-meter stalls had only zinc sheets for roofing.<\/p>\n
The fire last March killed at least ten Ramayana department
\nstore employees and destroyed the kiosks of nearly 1,000 traders.<\/p>\n
The mayoralty has provided 2,131 temporary stalls. Mayor Eddy
\nGunardi stated that government officials caught asking for money
\nfrom traders will be reprimanded.<\/p>\n
The mayoralty's spokesman, M. Basit, said the renovation of
\nthe stalls was not a problem.<\/p>\n
\"The traders are welcome to add to the stalls for their
\ncomfort and safety,\" he said.<\/p>\n
The temporary stalls will be cleared when the renovated market
\nis ready, he added.<\/p>\n
Many of the temporary stalls are still empty.<\/p>\n
A sticker on each stall says that if the stalls are not used
\nwithin a month from the last site lottery, the owners will no
\nlonger be entitled to use them. The last lottery was held on May
