        "content": "<p>Bogor prepares for more dengue patients<\/p>\n<p>BOGOR: As the number of dengue fever patients increases, the<br>\ncity-owned Cibinong hospital in Bogor has prepared additional<br>\nbeds.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital treated 15 patients this month for dengue, eight<br>\nof them children, hospital spokeswoman Wahyu Kurdijanti said on<br>\nWednesday.<\/p>\n<p>One of the children, seven-year-old Gunawan died last week.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have treated 361 dengue fever patients since January, six<br>\nof whom have died,\" she said.<\/p>\n<p>Wahyu explained that the patients who died were in a bad<br>\ncondition when they were admitted to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\"The public are still not aware of the symptoms of the<br>\ndisease ... it's sometimes too late when they seek medical<br>\ntreatment,\" she added.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital treated a total of 704 patients for dengue last<br>\nyear, 14 of whom died.<\/p>\n<p>Bogor Health Agency recorded 18 fatalities as of Wednesday out<br>\nof 385 people who had contracted dengue this year, many of them<br>\nchildren.<\/p>\n<p>According to the head of the communicable diseases prevention<br>\nunit at the Bogor municipality, Eulis Wulantari, the number of<br>\npatients this year decreased compared to last year.<\/p>\n<p>She argued that people's awareness of the need to maintain a<br>\nhealthy and clean environment was a contributing factor.<\/p>\n<p>\"But there is still coordination between the administration<br>\nand the public to conduct drives to clean up the city and not to<br>\ndepend only on fogging which kills adult Aedes aegypti mosquito<br>\nbut not the larvae,\" Eulis said. -- JP<\/p>",
