        "content": "<p>Police have dismantled a counterfeit money operation in the Bogor\narea of West Java. The suspect, identified by the initials MP alias\nMahfud, aged 39, was apprehended after being discovered to be producing\nfake Rp100,000 notes under the pretence of being able to multiply\nvictims\u2019 wealth.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Director of Special Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya\nRegional Police, AKBP Martuasah Hermindo Tobing, revealed that the\nperpetrator exploited victims\u2019 trust through shamanistic practices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe copied money was intended to be circulated in society by\npretending it was a money-doubling practice or shamanism,\u201d said\nMartuasah during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (1\/4).<\/p>\n<p>In carrying out his scheme, Mahfud lured victims into surrendering\ngenuine money with promises of multiplying it several times over.\nHowever, instead of supernatural duplication, the suspect produced\nsheets of paper resembling rupiah using basic equipment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspect used an Epson brand printer with a master printing tool.\nAfterwards, the copied results were cut using a Joyko brand cutter,\nscissors, and a utility knife,\u201d explained Martuasah.<\/p>\n<p>The perpetrator also used cardstock paper adjusted to the appropriate\nsize so that its texture and shape could deceive the eye at a glance,\nmaking it resemble genuine currency.<\/p>\n<p>To date, the police are still investigating the case to trace how far\nthe fake money produced by MP has circulated in society. Metro Jaya\nRegional Police has issued a stern warning to the public not to fall for\nsimilar tricks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge the public not to easily believe in money-doubling\npractices. This modus operandi is often used as an entry point for fraud\nand the circulation of counterfeit money,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Metro Jaya Regional Police seized 12,191 sheets of fake Rp100,000\nnotes from the suspect MP in Bogor.
