Bogor military has new chief<\/p>\n
BOGOR, West Java (JP): The Bogor regency has a new military
\nchief, Lt. Col. Widji Utomo, who has vowed to punish soldiers
\nfound frequenting nightspots or dealing in illegal drugs.<\/p>\n
"There will be no special treatment for those who violate the
\nlaw," he told The Jakarta Post yesterday.<\/p>\n
He said the first step to be taken will be an internal
\ninvestigation. The next step will be to monitor the activities of
\ndiscos, hotels and other places suspected of being used for drug
\ndeals.<\/p>\n
Bogor has reportedly become a common place for Ecstasy
\ntransactions, he said. "I've received information that a
\nnightspot in Cisarua is currently being used for drug-related
\nactivities."<\/p>\n
Utomo was installed as the new Bogor military chief on
\nWednesday, replacing Lt. Col. Agus Mulyadi, who has been given a
\nnew post with the Udayana Military Command in Bali.<\/p>\n
Utomo, who graduated from the Military Academy in 1976, has
\nheld several posts in the Pattimura Military Command in Maluku
\nprovince, and the Siliwangi Military Command in West Java.<\/p>\n
The father of three children, Utomo was born in Pontianak,
\nWest Kalimantan, on Aug. 11, 1953. (21\/25)<\/p>",
