Bogor gets new military chief<\/p>\n
BOGOR (JP): Chief of the Suryakencana Bogor military resort,
\nBrig. Gen. Eddi Budianto, handed over his post to Col. Soeprapto
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
The installation ceremony was led by West Java\/Siliwangi
\nMilitary Commander Brig. Gen. Purwadi.<\/p>\n
Eddy has been assigned as an officer at the Jakarta-based
\nCoordinating Agency for Maintenance of National Stability.<\/p>\n
Soeprapto is a former officer at the Infantry College Center
\nin the West Java capital of Bandung.<\/p>\n
In his speech, Purwadi called on the local officers to monitor
\nany existing social problems and take immediate action if
\npossible to prevent incidents which might prompt instability and
\nhamper development in the area.<\/p>\n
\"This area is much influenced by Jakarta problems. All that
\nhappened in Jakarta could happen here,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Bogor is a 45-minute drive from the capital.<\/p>\n
He said several problems, such as land disputes, labor issues
\nand student demonstrations, which occurred in Jakarta also
\nsometimes emerged in the area.<\/p>\n
\"If the problems cannot be anticipated, it could affect
\nsecurity,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Soeprapto pledged to immediately realize his superior's
\norders.<\/p>\n
\"I would approach society leaders and students to help improve
