Eka Wardhana, a member of the Bogor City DPRD, has stated that the\n\u2018Bogorku Bersih\u2019 programme is no longer just a competition but has\nevolved into a new civilisation and a community identity for preserving\nthe environment in the Rain City. \u2018The waste problem in Bogor City is a\nreal challenge that continues to grow along with the increasing\npopulation. We can no longer use old methods. The old paradigm of\nrelying solely on the collect, transport, and dump pattern to the Final\nDisposal Site (TPA) must be abandoned immediately,\u2019 said Eka Wardhana\nduring the Bogorku Bersih Workshop held at the Paseban Sri Baduga Hall,\nBogor City Hall, on Tuesday, 14 July 2026.<\/p>\n
To address this challenge, Eka emphasised two main focuses that must\nbe implemented simultaneously by all elements of society and the local\ngovernment. The first focus is the importance of radically reducing\nwaste directly at the source. He explained that the key to successful\nwaste management does not lie at the TPA but starts at the household\nlevel, offices, and the initial points where waste is produced. \u2018The key\nto success is in our own kitchens, on our office desks, and at the\nupstream points where waste is produced. The Bogor City DPRD itself\ncontinues to encourage the strengthening of regulations and budget\npolicies that favour community-based waste management,\u2019 said Eka.<\/p>\n
He added that waste reduction at the source can be achieved through\nreduction movements, disciplined sorting of organic and inorganic waste,\nand maximising the role of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Waste Processing Sites\n(TPS3R) at the sub-district level. \u2018If we succeed in containing and\nmanaging waste upstream, we have saved the future of this city\u2019s\nenvironment by fifty percent,\u2019 he continued. The second focus, Eka\nstated, is the need for a realistic and visionary approach to dealing\nwith residual waste that cannot be processed upstream. Bogor City is\ncurrently moving forward with a plan to build environmentally friendly\ntechnological infrastructure, namely Waste-to-Energy Processing\n(PSEL).<\/p>\n
\u2018PSEL technology is a modern solution that will transform the burden\nof the waste problem into a beneficial energy asset. Through this\nworkshop, I ask all elements of society, especially the cadres present\ntoday, to become extensions of information in socialising PSEL,\u2019 he\nsaid. Eka explained that public education is crucial so that the\ncommunity understands that PSEL is not just an ordinary waste\nincinerator but an integrated and environmentally friendly management\nsystem. The success of this technology is highly dependent on the\nconsistency of waste sorting from home. \u2018PSEL will run optimally if the\nwaste sent has been properly sorted from the household,\u2019 he explained.\nTherefore, Eka affirmed the DPRD\u2019s commitment as a legislative body to\nalways oversee, provide regulatory support, and ensure that the\nenvironmental management budget remains a regional priority. However, he\nreminded that the best regulations would be paralysed without active\ncommunity participation. \u2018Let us make this workshop a real momentum to\nunite our steps.
