Boarding houses have no permit<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Mushrooming boarding houses in the Lenteng Agung area
\nin South Jakarta, -- where many university campuses are located
\n-- have allegedly been set up without a permit from the
\nsubdistrict office.<\/p>\n
\"Many boarding house owners here don't have a permit (from the
\nsubdistrict office),\" said one of the residents, Yudi, as quoted
\nby BeritaJakarta.com over the weekend.<\/p>\n
Iwan, another local resident, said that none of the
\nsubdistrict officials had ever checked the permits at local
\nboarding houses.<\/p>\n
\"I haven't seen any officials from the subdistrict office come
\nto the boarding houses asking to see the permits,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Many residents in Lenteng Agung have complained that students
\nhave been dealing in drugs in their boarding houses.<\/p>\n
\"There's nothing we can do because we feel uncomfortable to
\ncomplain to the owners, who have lived here longer (than us),\"
\nsaid Edy. -- JP<\/p>",
