        "content": "<p>The National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) held a \u2018National Defence\nCamp\u2019 in collaboration with Jaga Tunas Indonesia in Garut, West Java,\nfrom 8 to 10 July 2026, as an effort to build youth preparedness against\nthe threat of terrorism in the digital era. Opening the event on\nWednesday (8\/7), BNPT Head Eddy Hartono stated that the activity was a\nresponse to the development of digital technology, which has changed the\npattern of spreading radicalism and terrorism. \u2018In the past, the\nrecruitment process was carried out face-to-face and in secret, but now\nperpetrators use social media and even online games,\u2019 Eddy said. He\nexplained that students and university attendees are a group that needs\nstrengthening in digital literacy, national insight, and critical\nthinking skills, as they are potential targets for the spread of radical\nideas via the internet. \u2018In this digital era, the targets of terrorist\nnetwork recruitment are children and youth. So, we are building\npreparedness,\u2019 he said. According to Eddy, the digital space has become\nan effective means for terrorist groups to carry out three main\nactivities: propaganda, recruitment, and fundraising. He also reminded\nthat the current recruitment process is often carried out covertly and\nin stages. Perpetrators typically build emotional closeness first\nthrough seemingly normal activities, such as playing games together or\njoining online communities. The camp, attended by 100 students from\nGarut Regency, provided training on national insight, national defence,\ndigital literacy, social media security, and environmental awareness.\nParticipants also took part in various social actions, such as free\nhealth checks, distribution of basic food supplies, and tree planting in\nwatershed areas. Through this activity, BNPT aims to foster a generation\nof young people who are not only adept at using digital technology but\nalso resilient against the spread of radicalism, intolerance, and\nviolent extremism that can lead to terrorism.<\/p>",
