        "content": "<p>The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has revealed that\nnegligence resulting from waste burning is suspected to have triggered a\nland fire that scorched an area of 20 hectares in Sabu Raijua Regency,\nEast Nusa Tenggara (NTT).<\/p>\n<p>Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Centre,\nAbdul Muhari, stated in Jakarta on Monday that dry weather combined with\nstrong wind gusts accelerated the spread of the flames, causing the\nburnt area to expand.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the land fire event affected the administrative\nareas of two villages, namely Eimau Village and Eilode Village, located\nin the Central Sabu District.<\/p>\n<p>Based on a report received by the BNPB Operations Control Centre, the\nblaze was first detected consuming vegetation across the dry land\nexpanse on Thursday afternoon (11\/6) and had caused local residents to\nworry it would spread to residential areas.<\/p>\n<p>Upon receiving the emergency report, Abdul said, personnel from the\nSabu Raijua Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) were\nimmediately deployed to the location to carry out localisation and fire\nsuppression efforts.<\/p>\n<p>During the extinguishing operation, the BPBD rapid reaction team\nactively collaborated with a joint team comprising elements of the\nIndonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police\n(Polri), relevant local government agencies, and a local community fire\nawareness group.<\/p>\n<p>In response to this incident, the BNPB has urged the public to\nincrease vigilance and to refrain from burning waste or clearing land by\nburning indiscriminately, especially as the dry season sets in.<\/p>",
