        "content": "<p>The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has taken over command\nof the emergency response for the earthquake that struck Sigi Regency,\nCentral Sulawesi, after the local regent declared a state of emergency.\n\u201cThe Sigi Regent has declared a state of emergency, meaning the central\ngovernment through BNPB takes over command and will lead and assist as\nmuch as possible,\u201d said BNPB Chief Suharyanto during a visit to Sigi\nRegency on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that his agency is currently awaiting data from the Sigi\nRegency government regarding damage to residents\u2019 homes in Kamarora\nVillage, Nokilalaki District. \u201cFor heavily damaged houses, we have\nagreed to build temporary shelters (Huntara). We also offer those who do\nnot wish to enter the huntara a waiting fund for housing; this pattern\nis the same as in other places when a disaster occurs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that basic logistical needs for some of the affected\ncommunities in the area have been met. \u201cThere are no complaints about\nbasic logistical issues. Alhamdulillah, everything is fulfilled, meaning\nthe local government has moved quickly; the central government just\nneeds to reinforce the disaster management in Sigi Regency,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the community\u2019s request is that infrastructure such\nas places of worship, namely mosques and churches, be repaired\nimmediately. \u201cFrom the dialogue with the community, there were no\ncomplaints asking for basic needs. Instead, they asked about secondary\nneeds like places of worship, even though those are secondary needs, so\nwe will immediately build a temporary church in Nokilalaki,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Suharyanto mentioned that construction of the temporary church will\nbegin on Sunday (21\/6) with a semi-permanent structure. \u201cThe\nconstruction of these places of worship, for the church and mosque, will\nhave zinc roofs, GRC walls, cement floors, and the size will be\naccording to the needs of the place of worship,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Based on data as of 19 June, the number of affected people reached\n2,585 families, comprising 7,821 individuals in Sigi Regency. Damaged\nhouses in Sigi Regency also totalled 2,137 units, consisting of 1,917\nlightly damaged, 147 moderately damaged, and 73 heavily damaged units\nspread across 39 villages.<\/p>\n<p>The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported\nthat a tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 struck the Palu\nregion, Central Sulawesi, on Tuesday (16\/6) at 10:27 WIB.<\/p>",
