        "content": "<p>The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has confirmed that the\nEmergency-to-Recovery Transition Status for the Mount Sinabung eruption\ndisaster in Karo Regency, North Sumatra, remains active for 90 days from\n8 July to 5 October 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication\nCentre, Berton SP Panjaitan, said in Jakarta on Monday that the handling\nstatus, based on Decree Number 361\/559\/BPBD\/2026, serves as the primary\nbasis for cross-agency coordination amid the latest volcanic activity\ndynamics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt remains in force for 90 days, from 8 July to 5 October 2026,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Berton explained that the recovery transition period runs alongside\nstrict field condition evaluations, following the decision by the Centre\nfor Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) of the\nGeological Agency to raise Mount Sinabung\u2019s activity level from Level II\n(Alert) to Level III (Standby) on Monday (31\/8) at 12.30 WIB.<\/p>\n<p>To support disaster impact handling during this transition period,\nthe Karo Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has\ndistributed masks to residents affected by volcanic ash and urged\ncommunities in danger zones to move immediately to safe locations away\nfrom potential follow-up eruptions.<\/p>\n<p>Berton stressed that mitigation measures continue to be adjusted by\nexpanding the safe radius boundaries, namely prohibiting community\nactivities within a 3-kilometre radius from the summit and a 6-kilometre\nsectoral radius to the south-southeast, including settlements included\nin the relocation programme.<\/p>\n<p>The BNPB Operations Control Directorate confirmed that there have so\nfar been no reports of casualties or displaced persons, as the joint\ntask force team remains on site to conduct data collection and\nassessment of aid requirements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBe alert to the potential for cold lava flows in the Sinabung river.\nResidents in areas affected by volcanic ash are also urged to wear masks\nor respiratory protection, remain calm, and follow directions from the\nlocal government and authorised agencies,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
