"summary": "The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has confirmed that joint firefighting teams are actively tackling forest and land fires across four regencies in Central Java. The fires, affecting Klaten, Grobogan, Blora, and Wonogiri, have been largely attributed to uncontrolled waste burning and the clearing of agricultural residue during the dry season. The agency has urged local governments to heighten their preparedness as the lack of rainfall increases the risk of further fire outbreaks.",
"content": "<p>The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has confirmed that\njoint officer teams in four regencies of Central Java Province are still\nbattling to extinguish forest and land fires. Head of the BNPB Data,\nInformation, and Communication Centre for Disaster, Abdul Muhari,\nreported on Tuesday that the strenuous efforts of joint personnel from\nthe Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Fire Service, TNI\/Polri,\nand other relevant agencies are focused on fire incidents in the Klaten,\nGrobogan, Blora, and Wonogiri regencies. According to a report received\nby the BNPB Operations Control Directorate, the fire in Klaten occurred\non Monday (27\/7). The one-hectare blaze in paddy fields in Srimulyo\nHamlet, Kaligawe Village, Pedan District, was allegedly triggered by\nuncontrolled waste burning by residents before it was eventually\nextinguished manually by the BPBD and Fire Service. Meanwhile, in\nGrobogan Regency, the joint team had to work extra hard to put out a\n3.4-hectare fire in Prigi Village, Kedungjati District, and Kaliwenang\nVillage, Tanggungharjo District. Abdul stated that the incident, which\nstarted from the burning of post-harvest maize residue on Monday\nafternoon, was quickly responded to by the Grobogan BPBD by creating\nfirebreaks to prevent the flames from spreading further. In addition to\nKlaten and Grobogan, the forest and land fire dynamics in Central Java\nalso involved intensive handling of sugarcane field fires in Blora and\nWonogiri regencies, each burning one hectare of land. The land fire in\nBlora is not a new occurrence this July. The BNPB noted that on\nWednesday (22\/7), a fire had scorched three hectares of land in two\nseparate locations. The first fire hit a sugarcane field area in\nKalangan Village, Tunjungan District, followed by a bamboo grove fire in\nKebonrejo Village, Banjarejo District, which was finally fully\nextinguished on Thursday (23\/7). He stated that this series of events\nunderscores the need for local governments, including Central Java, to\nbe fully prepared to respond to the vulnerability caused by the lack of\nrainfall during this dry season, as it increases the potential for new\nfire spots to emerge.<\/p>",
