        "content": "<p>The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has revealed that\nsurvivors of the flood and landslide disaster in Aceh Province\nappreciate the government\u2019s swift action in realising the acceleration\nof in-situ permanent housing construction. Head of the BNPB Data,\nInformation and Disaster Communication Centre, Abdul Muhari, stated in\nJakarta on Tuesday that the certainty of fulfilling the need for decent\nhousing was accompanied by the distribution of basic food aid packages\nfor the local community. \u201cIn addition to reviewing the progress of house\nconstruction in the field, the Head of BNPB also handed over basic food\naid to meet the basic needs of residents at the Kualasimpang and West\nPeureulak locations,\u201d he said. The BNPB Operations Control Centre noted\nthat to date it has received proposals for the construction of around\n15,000 in-situ permanent housing units (on residents\u2019 own land) from\nthree provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. Of this\ntotal, around 800 to 900 housing units have been built simultaneously,\nwhile nearly 400 units have been completed. Abdul explained that one of\nthe beneficiaries of the housing construction assistance, Nurbayti (64),\na resident of Sriwijaya Village, Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, stated she was\ngreatly helped after her severely damaged house was rebuilt permanently.\nNurbayti told BNPB officers she was grateful because after nearly three\nmonths of being forced to stay in temporary housing facilities, she and\nher family could soon move into a new, safer home in the near future. A\nsimilar sentiment was expressed by Muhammad Fuad (35), a flood survivor\nfrom West Peureulak District, East Aceh Regency, who assessed that the\ngovernment\u2019s accelerated rehabilitation scheme for the housing sector\nwas running very effectively. Fuad, who works daily as an electronics\ntechnician, said the structure of the type 36 building provided by the\ngovernment is currently much better, sturdier, and more comfortable\ncompared to his previous dwelling. \u201cAlhamdulillah, this building is much\nbetter and more comfortable. Before the temporary shelter was ready, I\nhad to stay at my in-laws\u2019 house. The presence of this permanent housing\ngives our family new hope to return to a normal life,\u201d said Fuad.<\/p>",
