        "content": "<p>The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has announced that 615\nvillagers have been evacuated by joint personnel to shelters to\nanticipate the dangers of Mount Sinabung\u2019s eruption in Karo Regency,\nNorth Sumatra.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in Jakarta on Wednesday, the Acting Head of the BNPB\nDisaster Data, Information, and Communication Centre, Berton SP\nPanjaitan, stated that the evacuation was carried out in response to\nincreased volcanic activity following major eruptions since the\nbeginning of the week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on preliminary data, approximately 211 families or 615\nindividuals from Kuta Tengah Village are currently located at the\nEmergency Handling Post in Sukatepu Village, Naman Teran District,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Berton explained that evacuation measures were prioritised for\nresidents living near high-risk eruption zones. In addition to Kuta\nTengah Village, Payung Village in the Payung District is also within the\npotential impact area of the Sinabung eruption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs for the residents of Payung Village, they are reported to be\nstaying in their respective homes for now, but remain on full alert\nunder the monitoring of joint teams,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The BNPB Directorate of Operations Control confirmed that this mass\nevacuation is a response to the increased activity level of Mount\nSinabung, which was officially raised from Level II (Alert) to Level III\n(Siaga) by the Centre for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation\n(PVMBG) of the Geological Agency.<\/p>\n<p>The volcano previously ejected a thick ash column reaching 3,500\nmetres above the summit.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure public safety, the danger zone has now been expanded. The\nBNPB has urged residents and tourists to avoid all relocated villages, a\n3-kilometre radius from the summit, and a sectoral radius of up to 6\nkilometres towards the south-east, as recommended by the Geological\nAgency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.<\/p>",
