"summary": "Indonesia's National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has disclosed that prisons and detention centres nationwide are operating at 90% overcapacity, with the current population of 278,376 inmates far exceeding the 146,260 capacity. The majority, comprising 54% or 150,202 individuals, are drug-related offenders, including 96,176 dealers and 54,026 users, whom BNN Chief Komjen Suyudi Ario Seto describes as victims in need of medical and social rehabilitation rather than incarceration. This critical situation underscores the urgent need for prison reforms and alternative approaches to drug policy in Indonesia.",
