BNI assists two banks<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Bank Indonesia, the central bank, announced
\nyesterday that it had appointed state-owned Bank Negara Indonesia
\n(BNI) to extend technical and management assistance to privately-
\nowned PT Bank Yama and PT Bank Pacific.<\/p>\n
\"Based on the results of Bank Indonesia's assessment, Bank
\nYama and Bank Pacific need technical and management assistance
\nfrom another bank in order to improve their management and
\noperation,\" the central banks said in a statement, which was made
\navailable yesterday.<\/p>\n
After the entrance of BNI, the two banks are expected to
\noperate more professionally and have a better competitive edge so
\nthat the people's trust in the two banks can be restored, the
\nstatement said.<\/p>\n
Bank Indonesia yesterday also announced that another \"trouble-
\nhit\" bank, PT Bank Yakin Makmur, overhauled its board of
\ndirectors at its extraordinary shareholder meeting yesterday.
