BMW 530i comes with more safety features<\/p>\n
German carmaker PT BMW Indonesia's introduction of the new BMW 5
\nSeries last year was a great success as it sold 471 units out of
\nlast year's total sales of 2,053 units.<\/p>\n
However, not all of its cutting-edge features were installed
\nconsidering the nature of the Indonesian market.<\/p>\n
This year, however, the company decided to provide more safety
\nfeatures -- adaptive headlights and run-flat tires -- as standard
\nadditions to its BMW 530i saloon.<\/p>\n
The company claims that these features offer a significant
\nsafety improvement for drivers and passengers alike.<\/p>\n
Adaptive headlights provide better safety when driving at
\nnight as they adjust infinitely to the steering angle improving
\nvisibility on the road ahead especially at curves.<\/p>\n
This enables the driver to react more quickly as the road
\nahead will be seen more clearly.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, run-flat tires allow the car to travel for 150
\nkilometers at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour (kph) even though
\nits tires have lost all air pressure.<\/p>\n
In case of a puncture, the driver will not need to stop the
\ncar to change the wheel, which uses a new stylish alloy wheel
\n245\/45 R17.<\/p>\n
This is made possible through the provision of a stiffer
\ninternal construction, capable of temporarily carrying the weight
\nof the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Run-flat tires were first introduced in the BMW Z4 roadster.<\/p>\n
Another additional feature is the electric glass sunroof.<\/p>\n
The BMW 530i is powered by an inline, six-cylinder, 2979 cc
\nengine able to produce 231 horsepower (hp) of power at 5,900
\nrevolutions per minute (rpm) and a maximum torque of 300 Newton
\nmeter at 3,500 rpm.<\/p>\n
It comes with six-speed automatic transmission and is equipped
\nwith a Tiptronic system.<\/p>\n
With a maximum speed of 250 kph, the BMW 530i can accelerate
\nfrom 0 kph to 100 kph in 7.1 seconds.<\/p>\n
The new 5 Series weighs 55 kilograms less than its predecessor
\nthanks to the use of lightweight aluminum and steel making the
\ncar faster and more agile.<\/p>\n
Standard safety features include 10 air bags for the driver,
\nfront passengers and rear passengers including side air bags;
\nanti-lock braking system (ABS); and a traction control system.<\/p>\n
Also a standard feature is active steering, which means the
\nresponse to steering wheel movement depends on the speed of the
\ncar.<\/p>\n
At low to medium speed, the response will be greater than the
\nconventional ratio of 1:1. On the other hand, the response is
\nless when the speed is higher.<\/p>\n
In 1:1 ratio, two full circles of the steering wheel are
\nneeded to move the front wheels lock-to-lock.<\/p>\n
The active steering feature allows the vehicle to be more
\nresponsive at any speed, provides easy parking movement and
\nprevents oversteering and understeering.<\/p>\n
The BMW 530i is tagged at Rp 925 million (US$100,000) while
\nthe BMW 520i is priced at Rp 698 million.<\/p>\n
All owners are entitled to a 2-year warranty as well as
\nfive-year or up to 100,000 km free maintenance and service. --
