The largest quakes reached magnitude 6.4 and the smallest 0.9; seven earthquakes were felt across the province. "content": "<p>Bandung (ANTARA) \u2013 The Bandung Geophysical Station of Class 1 BMKG\nhas recorded that during February 2026 there were 108 earthquake events\nin West Java and the surrounding area. Of the 108 events, the largest\nground shaking recorded was magnitude 6.4, while the smallest was 0.9,\nsaid Teguh Rahayu, head of BMKG Bandung Geophysical Station, in Bandung\non Thursday. Teguh said, based on depth, 93 earthquakes had a focal\ndepth of less than 60 kilometres, and 15 events were between 60 and 300\nkilometres. Throughout February there were seven earthquakes felt, he\nsaid. He noted that by hypocentre location, 58 earthquakes were centred\nat sea, while 50 events were inland. Furthermore, Teguh said one felt\nearthquake in February had a magnitude of 3 and was centred in Cimahi,\nWest Java, on Friday (6 February), felt in Bandung Regency, Subang,\nBandung city, and Sumedang Regency. Taking into account the epicentre\nlocation and depth, the earthquakes that occurred were shallow\nearthquakes caused by the activity of active faults, he said. BMKG\nBandung issued guidance for the public to avoid buildings that are\ncracked or damaged by earthquakes. If an earthquake occurs, the public\nshould remain calm, be vigilant, and follow the directions of the local\nBadan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD), as well as information from\nBMKG. We urge that if an earthquake occurs the public remain calm, be\nvigilant, and not be swayed by irresponsible rumours, said Teguh.<\/p>",
