The Ahmad Yani Meteorology Station in Semarang urges residents in
several Central Java regions to increase their vigilance against the
potential for extreme weather that could trigger hydro-meteorological
disasters. Head of the Ahmad Yani Meteorology Station in Semarang, Yoga
Sambodo, stated that the potential for rain with moderate to heavy
intensity accompanied by lightning or thunder and strong winds is still
likely to occur in the coming days. “The public needs to be wary of the
potential for hydro-meteorological disasters such as floods, landslides,
and tornadoes due to these extreme weather conditions,” he said on
Sunday (29/3). He explained that on Monday (30/3), several areas with
alert status or potential for heavy to very heavy rain include
Pekalongan, Banjarnegara, Batang, Kendal, Wonosobo, Temanggung,
Magelang, Boyolali, Klaten, Sragen, Surakarta, and Karanganyar.
Meanwhile, areas with watch status that are potential to experience rain
with moderate to heavy intensity include Brebes, Tegal, Pemalang,
Banyumas, Purbalingga, Semarang, Demak, Jepara, Kudus, Pati, Blora, and
Salatiga. “For those areas, the public is urged to increase vigilance,
especially in landslide- and flood-prone regions,” said Yoga. Then on
Tuesday (31/3), BMKG notes areas with alert status including Banyumas,
Purbalingga, and Banjarnegara that are potential to experience heavy to
very heavy rain. Areas with watch status cover Brebes, Tegal, Pemalang,
Pekalongan, Magelang, Boyolali, Klaten, Karanganyar, Sragen, Grobogan,
and Blora. BMKG also notes that heavy rain potential can occur locally,
such as in Pulosari, Pemalang Regency, as well as Bumijawa and Bojong in
Tegal Regency. This condition has the potential to spread to other areas
if supported by active atmospheric dynamics. “This extreme weather can
impact various sectors, including transportation and public activities.
Visibility may decrease during heavy rain, so road users need to be more
cautious,” he explained. In addition, BMKG reminds local governments and
related agencies to enhance readiness in facing potential impacts of
extreme weather, including floods, landslides, and fallen trees due to
strong winds. Yoga added that weather changes can occur quickly, so the
public is asked to continue monitoring official BMKG information. “We
urge the public to always update weather information through official
BMKG channels to anticipate potential risks,” he added.
",
