        "content": "<p>The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announced\nthat the tsunami early warning triggered by a magnitude 7.7 earthquake\nin the Flores region, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), ended on Saturday\nmorning (15\/8). \u201cThe tsunami early warning caused by the mag:7.7\nearthquake, dated 15 August 2026 at 04:58:24 WIB, has been declared\nover,\u201d BMKG stated via its official WhatsApp channel on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The earthquake occurred at 04:58:24 Western Indonesia Time (WIB),\nwith its epicentre located 30 kilometres northeast of Mbay, Nagekeo\nRegency, NTT, at a depth of 15 kilometres. BMKG had previously issued a\ntsunami early warning and placed several areas under advisory and watch\nstatuses after the quake showed potential to trigger a tsunami.<\/p>\n<p>Based on BMKG sea level monitoring, a tsunami was detected in several\nlocations. The highest wave was recorded in Maurole, Ende Regency,\nreaching 0.94 metres at 05:27 WIB. Tsunami waves were also detected in\nSikka at 0.19 metres, Pelabuhan Kewapante-Sikka at 0.38 metres, East\nFlores at 0.25 metres, Labuan Bajo at 0.36 metres, Dompu at 0.17 metres,\nBakalang-Alor at 0.14 metres, Baubau at 0.30 metres, Bulukumba at 0.54\nmetres, and Kolaka at 0.23 metres.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Head of the West Manggarai BMKG, Maria Patrica Seran,\nstated that the earthquake had the potential to trigger a tsunami and\nthat aftershocks were still possible. \u201cThe updated magnitude is 7.7.\nThere is a potential for a tsunami and the possibility of aftershocks\nstill occurring,\u201d she told CNN Indonesia in Labuan Bajo on Saturday\nmorning.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, CNN Indonesia monitoring in Labuan Bajo showed that\nseveral buildings and public facilities sustained damage from the\nearthquake. Among them was the Jayakarta Hotel, which suffered damage to\nits lobby, walls, and several tables and chairs. Public facilities such\nas churches, hospitals, and schools within the city were also reported\nto have sustained minor damage. Although the tsunami early warning has\nended, the public is urged to continue following official information\nand directives from BMKG and local authorities regarding the\npost-earthquake situation.<\/p>",
