The Head of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency\n(BMKG), Teuku Faisal Fathani, has revealed a budget backlog for 2027.\nFaisal stated that the total budget requirement for BMKG in 2027 reaches\nRp 4.649 trillion, while the available budget ceiling is only Rp 2.523\ntrillion.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegarding the 2027 budget backlog, based on the Strategic Plan,\nBMKG\u2019s budget needs for 2027 reach Rp 4.649 trillion, whereas the\navailable budget ceiling is Rp 2.523 trillion. There is a backlog of Rp\n2.126 trillion,\u201d said Faisal during a meeting with Commission V of the\nHouse of Representatives (DPR) at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta,\non Tuesday (1\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
\u201cThis consists of various breakdowns; the backlog covers various\noperational needs, management support programmes, and non-operational\nactivities for MKG (Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics)\nprogrammes,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Faisal noted that the BMKG budget ceiling for 2027, amounting to Rp\n2.523 trillion, is allocated to various programmes. These include\nmanagement support programmes worth Rp 1.24 trillion and MKG programmes\nworth Rp 1.28 trillion.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the 2027 ceiling of Rp 2.523 trillion, we will optimise it to\nmaintain operations, strengthen MKG infrastructure, maintain operational\nequipment, and improve the quality of information and early warnings,\u201d\nhe explained.<\/p>\n
BMKG has also allocated funds for several priority programmes in\n2027. These include Earthquake Field Schools targeting 2,370\nparticipants, Climate Field Schools, and the maintenance of 314 units of\nprimary MKG equipment at the central level and 1,914 units in regional\nareas.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the SBSN (State Budget Infrastructure Securities), the funds\namount to Rp 273.89 billion, intended for various activities, primarily\nthe construction of service building infrastructure in 20 locations,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
\u201cFurthermore, of great importance is the construction of 3 units of\nC-Band radar in Bali, Aceh, and Padang, as well as 1 unit of X-Band\nmaritime radar in Manado,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Faisal explained that the implementation of Weather\nModification Operations (OMC) has reached over 95% to date. He stated\nthat OMC is conducted as an early effort to reduce extreme\nhydrometeorological risks and meet water requirements.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegarding Weather Modification Operations, this continues to run as\nan early action to reduce extreme hydrometeorological risks and meet\nwater needs, with a realisation rate of over 95%,\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n
