The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Bandung
has stated that there are 29 active fault segment points within the West
Java region. The primary fault lines include the Lembang Fault, Garsela
Fault, Cipamingkis Fault, and Cimandiri Fault.

Based on 2024 data from the National Earthquake Study Centre (Pusgen)
under the Ministry of Public Works, the 29 fault segments in West Java
consist of: Cimandiri-Citatah, Cimandiri-Cisokan, Cimandiri-Cimandiri,
Cimandiri-Nyalindung-Cibeber, Lembang-Lembang, Cileunyi-Tanjungsari, and
Cicalengka-Cicalengka.

Other identified segments include Cianjur-Cianjur 1, Cianjur-Cianjur
2, Cipamingkis-Cipamingkis, Garsela-Kendang, Garsela-Kencana, Tampomas,
Karangmanggu, and Ciremai. Additionally, the list includes the Java Back
Arc Thrust Depok, Rarata, Salak, Citarum Front, Citarum, Cariu, and
Klapanunggal.

Further segments include the Java Back Arc Thrust Cirata, Tangkuban
Parahu, Cipunegara, Java Back Arc Thrust Tampomas, Baribis, Ciremai, and
Cisanggarung.

“There are 29 fault segments in West Java, with the main ones being
Cimandiri, Lembang, Garsela, and Cipamingkis,” said the Head of BMKG
Bandung, Suaidi Ahadi, when contacted on Monday (21/09/2026).

He noted that all of these fault segments are active. Given that West
Java is situated within a fault zone, BMKG is reminding the public to
understand earthquake disaster mitigation measures from an early
stage.
",
