        "content": "<p>The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts\nthat numerous areas in North Sumatra are still potentially subject to\nmoderate to heavy rainfall over the coming week.<\/p>\n<p>Martha Rosefina, Head of the Meteorology Early Warning System Team,\nstated in a briefing received in Medan on Monday that potential rain\ncloud formation in North Sumatra is caused by wind deflection and wind\nconvergence around the West Coast to the East Slopes of North Sumatra,\nalongside active atmospheric waves and warm Sea Surface Temperature\n(SST) anomalies.<\/p>\n<p>The convergence of air masses due to wind deflection in the Indian\nOcean west of Sumatra, atmospheric wave activity, warm sea surface\ntemperature anomalies, and an unstable air instability index fully\nsupport the growth of convective clouds in the North Sumatra region.<\/p>\n<p>Weather in North Sumatra over the next week, according to Rosefina,\nwill generally be dominated by moderate to very heavy rain\nconditions.<\/p>\n<p>Areas potentially affected by rain include the regencies of Langkat,\nBinjai, Medan, Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai, Tebing Tinggi, Asahan,\nBatubara, Labuhanbatu, Labuhanbatu Utara, Labuhanbatu Selatan, Pakpak\nBharat, Dairi, Karo, Humbang Hasundutan, Simalungun, and Pematang\nSiantar.<\/p>\n<p>Similar conditions may also occur in Toba, Samosir, Tapanuli Selatan,\nPadang Sidempuan, Tapanuli Tengah, Sibolga, Tapanuli Utara, Padang\nLawas, Padang Lawas Utara, Mandailing Natal, Gunung Sitoli, Nias, Nias\nSelatan, Nias Utara, and Nias Barat.<\/p>\n<p>Regional heads are urged to coordinate with the Regional Disaster\nManagement Agency (BPBD), as well as local TNI and Polri, to\ncontinuously monitor information provided by BMKG via the <span class=\"citation\" data-cites=\"infobmkgsumut\">@infobmkgsumut<\/span> social\nmedia account.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the public can also contact the information services of\nthe BMKG Regional Office I Medan through the call centre at 082168043653\nor via email at bbmkg1@bmkg.go.id.<\/p>",
