        "content": "<p>The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has\noutlined a series of support measures to assist in the search and rescue\nof victims following the fire aboard KMP Mutiara Sentosa II in the\nwaters north of Sumenep Regency, East Java Province.<\/p>\n<p>BMKG head Teuku Faisal Fathani said the agency had issued and\ndisseminated maritime weather forecasts for the northern Sumenep waters\nto stakeholders through electronic media prior to the ship fire\nincident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBMKG, through the Tanjung Perak Maritime Meteorology Station and the\nTrunojoyo Sumenep Meteorology Station, routinely disseminates maritime\nweather forecasts through its official website, email, social media and\nWhatsApp groups, including to mass media and ship captains, to support\nshipping safety,\u201d Faisal said during a working meeting and hearing of\nHouse of Representatives Commission V with the Minister of\nTransportation, the BMKG head and the Basarnas head at the Parliament\nComplex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>He said that based on Surabaya weather radar imagery, no rain was\ndetected around the ship\u2019s location, with clear and cloudy conditions\nobserved based on Himawari-9 EH satellite imagery at the time of the\nfire.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding BMKG\u2019s post-fire support, he said the agency continuously\ncoordinates actively with ministries, agencies and other relevant\ninstitutions for accident response preparedness.<\/p>\n<p>The agency also provides ocean parameter analysis and forward drift\nsimulations to estimate the movement of objects or victims.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, BMKG disseminates sea area weather forecast information\nand real-time weather radar monitoring.<\/p>\n<p>He added that BMKG, through its technical implementation units in the\nareas surrounding the incident, namely the Perak Maritime Meteorology\nStation, Juanda Meteorology Station and Trunojoyo, is also actively\ncoordinating to provide weather information to support SAR\noperations.<\/p>",
