BMKG has warnings of cooler temperatures in NTB due to radiative cooling, low humidity, and Australian monsoon winds, with minimum temperatures dropping to 17.5°C— below the usual 22-23°C average for May and June. The agency attributes this to normal seasonal changes ahead of the dry season and advises residents to take precautions such as dressing appropriately and staying hydrated while monitoring weather updates.

BMKG has reported that weather conditions in Nusa Tenggara Barat
(NTB) Province have started feeling cooler from evening to early morning
compared to previous temperatures. ‘NTB’s weather feels cooler during
the night and early morning,’ said BMKG NTB forecaster Nabila Akhirta in
Mataram on Saturday. ‘This is because heat absorbed by the Earth during
the day is released back into the atmosphere more rapidly through
radiative cooling without cloud cover,’ she added. ‘Low humidity levels
also mean the surface cannot retain heat for long after sunset, allowing
cooler air from higher atmospheric layers to descent.’

Further, the movement of winds in NTB has entered the Australian
monsoon season, bringing dry air masses that support these weather
conditions. Today’s minimum recorded temperature was 17.5°C, lower than
usual; last year’s average minimum temperatures in May and June were
around 22-23°C. ‘Such cooler temperatures are a normal and common
phenomenon each year as the dry season approaches,’ she said.

BMKG advises the public to maintain their health, wear appropriate
clothing, stay hydrated, and continuously monitor official weather
updates. ‘We urge residents to maintain resilience to the current cooler
weather,’ she added.
",
