        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency\n(BMKG) has forecast that weather conditions across various regions of\nIndonesia on Thursday will be dominated by light to moderate\nrainfall.<\/p>\n<p>BMKG forecaster Ina Indah H., reporting via an online broadcast\nfollowed from Jakarta on Thursday, said cities across Sumatra \u2014\nincluding Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, Tanjung Pinang, Jambi,\nBengkulu, Palembang and Lampung \u2014 have the potential for light to\nmoderate rain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor Java, light to moderate rain is expected in Serang, Jakarta,\nBandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta and Surabaya,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>For the Bali and Nusa Tenggara regions, Ina said weather conditions\nare forecast to bring light to moderate rain in Denpasar, Mataram and\nKupang.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile in Kalimantan, light to moderate rain is likely in Tanjung\nSelor, Samarinda and Palangkaraya. Rain accompanied by lightning should\nalso be watched for in Pontianak and Banjarmasin.<\/p>\n<p>For the Sulawesi region, cloudy conditions are expected in Makassar,\nwhilst light to moderate rain has the potential to drench Mamuju,\nKendari, Palu, Gorontalo and Manado.<\/p>\n<p>In eastern Indonesia, Ina noted that weather is generally forecast to\nbring light to moderate rain in Sorong, Manokwari, Ternate, Nabire,\nJayapura, Jayawijaya and Merauke. Meanwhile, Ambon is expected to\nexperience heavy cloud cover.<\/p>\n<p>She reminded the public to remain vigilant against the potential for\nextreme weather that could occur at any time.<\/p>\n<p>BMKG head Teuku Faisal Fathani emphasised that Indonesia is currently\nstill in its peak rainy season period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first thing we need to convey is that we are still at the peak\nof the rainy season in January-February, which will then taper off.\nHowever, high-intensity rainfall is still occurring across most of\nIndonesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>BMKG predicts that in February 2026, rainfall will generally fall\nwithin the low to high category. Very high rainfall is likely in West\nJava, Central Java, East Nusa Tenggara and South Sulawesi.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in March 2026, rainfall is expected to be in the medium to\nhigh category, with potential for very high rainfall in West Java,\nCentral Java, South Sulawesi and Central Papua.<\/p>\n<p>During the Eid al-Fitr holiday period, a number of atmospheric\nphenomena are predicted to remain active, including the Asian Monsoon,\nthe Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO), atmospheric waves, and potential\ncyclone seeds or tropical cyclones, particularly in the southern regions\nof Indonesia.<\/p>",
