Jakarta (ANTARA) \u2013 Indonesia\u2019s Meteorology, Climatology and\nGeophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts that cloudy to heavily overcast\nconditions could affect several cities across the country on\nTuesday.<\/p>\n
According to BMKG\u2019s forecast, monitored from Jakarta, cloudy\nconditions are expected in Pekanbaru, Riau, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang,\nYogyakarta and Surabaya. Moderate rain is possible in Serang,\nBanten.<\/p>\n
\u201cCloudy conditions are also possible in Denpasar, Mataram and\nKupang,\u201d BMKG forecaster Evi said.<\/p>\n
Light rain is possible in Banda Aceh, Medan, Padang, Jambi and\nBengkulu. Tanjung Pinang, Pangkal Pinang, Palembang and Bandar Lampung\nmay experience misty conditions.<\/p>\n
On the island of Kalimantan, BMKG forecasts possible light rain in\nTanjung Selor and Samarinda. Thunderstorms are possible in Pontianak,\nwhile haze is possible in Palangkaraya and misty conditions in\nBanjarmasin.<\/p>\n
In Sulawesi, partly cloudy to heavily overcast conditions are\npossible in Makassar, Palu and Gorontalo. Light rain may affect Mamuju,\nwhile haze and misty conditions are possible in Kendari and Manado,\nrespectively.<\/p>\n
In Maluku and Papua, cloudy conditions are forecast in Jayapura.\nLight rain is possible in Ternate, Sorong, Jayawijaya and Merauke, while\nthunderstorms are possible in Nabire.<\/p>\n
BMKG said cyclonic circulations forming in the Strait of Malacca and\nthe South China Sea are triggering areas of wind convergence and\nslowdown in several regions. These conditions could increase the\nlikelihood of rain-cloud formation in the affected areas.<\/p>\n
The agency also urged the public to be alert to the possibility of\nlocally heavy rain, even though dry weather is expected to remain\ndominant across much of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Coastal communities and sea transport users were advised to watch for\nwaves of 2.5 to 4 metres in the Indian Ocean west of Aceh through\nLampung, and in the Indian Ocean south of Banten through West Nusa\nTenggara.<\/p>\n
