        "content": "<p>Bandung (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics\nAgency (BMKG) has reminded holidaymakers and the general public to be\nwary of the potential for coastal flooding up to heavy rain predicted to\noccur during the peak of the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah holiday period in\nMarch 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of the Class I Bandung Geophysics Station, Teguh Rahayu, in\nBandung on Thursday, revealed that the threat of coastal flooding is\npredicted to emerge on 19 March and 22 March 2026 due to the new moon\nphenomenon and the closest distance between Earth and the Moon\n(perigee).<\/p>\n<p>In addition to tidal floods, holidaymakers in West Java are asked to\nschedule their journeys from morning to afternoon to avoid heavy rain\nthat predominantly falls in the afternoon and evening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWeather modification operations are carried out situationally and\nbased on needs to suppress rainfall intensity in areas with potential\nfor hydrometeorological disasters,\u201d said Rahayu.<\/p>\n<p>BMKG has mapped areas with high rainfall during the Eid period,\nincluding Majalengka, southwestern Kuningan, parts of Sumedang, and\nsoutheastern Subang.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, sea wave heights in West Java waters are estimated to\nreach 1.25 to 2.5 metres.<\/p>\n<p>Landslide Risk<\/p>\n<p>In line with BMKG, the Head of the Center for Volcanology and\nGeological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), Hadi Wijaya, emphasised that the\nongoing rainy season increases the risk of landslides on steep slopes\nand weathered volcanic rocks.<\/p>\n<p>PVMBG has issued special warnings for holidaymakers passing through\nthe Puncak Route, Cibadak-Sukabumi Main Road, southern Garut route, as\nwell as the Lembang-Maribaya-Subang tourist route.<\/p>\n<p>These routes are assessed to have high vulnerability to landslides,\nespecially when rainfall intensity increases.<\/p>\n<p>The public is urged to recognise early signs of landslides such as\ncracks appearing on slopes, small rockfalls, and trees beginning to\ntilt.<\/p>\n<p>Holidaymakers are advised to stick to main routes, avoid stopping\nunder cliffs during rain, and comply with instructions from on-site\nofficials if route diversions occur.<\/p>",
