        "content": "<p>Blueray Cargo Group chief John Field has been sentenced to three\nyears in prison and a fine of Rp300 million, with a subsidiary of 100\ndays\u2019 imprisonment, over alleged bribery of several officials at the\nDirectorate General of Customs and Excise. Based on legal facts revealed\nduring the trial, the Public Prosecutor from the Corruption Eradication\nCommission (KPK) believes John Field has been proven to have committed\nthe criminal act as charged. \u201cSentencing Defendant I John Field to\nimprisonment for three years and a criminal fine of Rp300,000,000, with\na subsidiary prison sentence of 100 days,\u201d the prosecutor stated while\nreading the criminal sentencing demand at the Corruption Court at the\nCentral Jakarta District Court on Monday (22\/6). In addition to John\nField, the prosecutor demanded the panel of judges at the Central\nJakarta Corruption Court deliver a guilty verdict against two other\ndefendants: Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo, Operational Manager of Port Customs\nClearance at Blueray Cargo Group, and Andri, Head of the Import\nDocumentation Team at Blueray Cargo Group. The prosecutor demanded both\nbe sentenced to two years and six months in prison and a criminal fine\nof Rp200,000,000 each, with a subsidiary prison sentence of 80 days.\nJohn Field and his associates were deemed by the prosecutor to have been\nproven to violate Article 605 Paragraph (1) letter a of Law Number 1 of\n2023 concerning the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article VII\nNumber 48 Article 605 letter a of Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning\nCriminal Adjustments, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c in\nconjunction with Article 126 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code, and\nother laws and regulations related to this case. \u201cOrdering that the\nperiod of detention of the Defendants be fully deducted from the prison\nsentence imposed. Ordering the Defendants to remain in custody,\u201d the\nprosecutor said. In handing down the criminal sentence demand, the\nprosecutor revealed a number of aggravating and mitigating\ncircumstances. The aggravating factor was that the Defendants did not\nsupport the government\u2019s programme to realise a government free from\nCorruption, Collusion, and Nepotism. The Defendants\u2019 actions were said\nto damage the image of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of\nthe Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. Meanwhile, the\nmitigating factor was that the Defendants were polite during the trial\nand had never been convicted. In the indictment, the prosecutor stated\nthat John Field and his two subordinates bribed several officials at the\nDirectorate General of Customs and Excise with money totalling Rp61\nbillion and the provision of entertainment facilities and luxury goods\nworth Rp1.8 billion. The bribe recipients consisted of the Director of\nEnforcement and Investigation, Rizal; the Head of the Intelligence\nSub-Directorate of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation,\nSisprian Subiaksono; and the Head of Customs Intelligence Section I of\nthe Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation, Orlando Hamonangan.\nThe cluster of Customs and Excise officials will be prosecuted in a\nseparate case file. Of that amount, Rizal received at least\nRp14,000,000,000, Sisprian Rp7,000,000,000, and Orlando around\nRp4,050,000,000. The remainder was enjoyed by other parties who have not\nyet been legally processed. One of them is Enov Puji Wijanarko, Head of\nImport Enforcement Section I of the Directorate of Enforcement and\nInvestigation. Meanwhile, the details of the facilities provided to the\nCustoms and Excise officials included entertainment facilities worth\nRp1,450,000,000, a Tag Heuer watch worth Rp65,000,000 to Orlando, and a\nMazda CX-5 car worth Rp330,000,000 to Enov Puji Wijanarko.
