Blitar to host national assembly<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: A national meeting that will bring together
\npoliticians and public figures who are concerned about the
\ncountry's future will take place in the East Java town of Blitar
\nbetween June 1 and June 21.<\/p>\n
The event's chief organizer, Roch Basoeki, said on Wednesday
\nthat the assembly would invite people from all walks of life to
\ndiscuss the future of the nation.<\/p>\n
\"We are not going to talk about power politics or governmental
\naffairs, but how to enhance national unity,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Initiators of the event also include legislator Meilono
\nSoewondo and former Cabinet ministers Hayono Isman and Khofifah
\nIndar Parawansa.<\/p>\n
The organizing committee has prepared a series of seminars and
\nart exhibitions to be held during the event.<\/p>\n
Blitar is the birthplace and burial place of founding
\npresident Sukarno.<\/p>\n
Basoeki said invitations to attend the meeting had been sent
\nto the President, Vice President, the People's Consultative
\nAssembly speaker, the House speaker, leaders of the state
\ninstitutions, religious leaders, intellectuals, leaders of
