Blast terrorizes chief legislator in Indramayu<\/p>\n

Homemade explosives hurled by at least two unidentified persons
\nexploded at the official residence of a local chief legislator in
\nthe West Java town of Indramayu early on Thursday.<\/p>\n
No fatalities or injuries were reported in the blast that took
\nplace at around 3 a.m., nor was there any serious damage to the
\nhouse located on Jalan Olahraga.<\/p>\n
Iwan Hendrawan, speaker of the Indramayu district legislative
\ncouncil (DPRD)-- who also chairs the local branch of the
\nIndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan), was
\nsleeping inside when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n
It did, however, create panic among the outspoken legislator,
\nhis family and neighbors, who heard a strong blast from the
\nhouse.<\/p>\n
The apparent attack was suspected to be linked to PDI
\nPerjuangan's rejection of an accountability report by the city's
\nregent.<\/p>\n
All 17 members of the party's faction in the legislature had
\nboycotted a DPRD plenary meeting meant to discuss the report.<\/p>\n
Iwan told The Jakarta Post that he believed the incident was
\nclosely related to the political stance of his PDI Perjuangan,
\nthe largest faction in the local legislature.<\/p>\n
But local police said they could not determine the motive
\nbehind the blast as the investigation was just getting underway.<\/p>\n
\"We are still investigating the incident,\" Adj. Sr. Comr. Eko
\nHadi Sutejo told the Post, confirming that the strong blast was
\nmade using explosive material packed in a small can.<\/p>\n
At least five people, including Iwan's family members, were
\nquestioned as witnesses in connection with the blast.<\/p>\n
Witnesses said two persons riding a motorcycle had arrived at
\nthe legislator's residence and threw something that later
\nexploded shortly after they left the scene.<\/p>\n
Iwan played down the terror against him, saying he did not
\nfeel frightened or intimidated by such an incident.<\/p>",
