        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Metro Jaya Police stated that the victim of the\n\u201cblack dollar\u201d or black dollar scam perpetrated by foreign nationals\nfrom Liberia is also a foreign national from South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can explain that the individual was secured for committing the\ncriminal offence of fraud against another foreign national from South\nKorea using the black dollar modus operandi,\u201d said Kompol Andaru\nRahutomo, Head of the Public Information Sub-Section of Metro Jaya\nPolice, when met in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Andaru explained that the two suspects, initialled SDT and I, have\nbeen in detention since 18 March 2026 and are currently undergoing\ninvestigation by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the West Jakarta\nMetro Police Resort.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegarding the details of the case and the modus operandi, this is\nbeing investigated by our colleagues at the Criminal Investigation Unit\nof the West Jakarta Metro Police Resort,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that based on the victim\u2019s report, the complaint was filed\non 8 March 2026, but the incident occurred between September and\nDecember 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn that basis, the victim only realised last month and decided to\nfile a report at the West Jakarta Metro Police Resort,\u201d said Andaru.<\/p>\n<p>Andaru explained that several pieces of evidence were also secured,\nincluding one bottle of liquid which, according to the suspects\u2019\nstatements, was used as a means to convince the victim. The liquid was\nclaimed to be able to convert black dollars into genuine dollars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the evidence, there is one bottle of liquid which, according to\nthe suspects, was used as a tool to deceive the victim. That is what was\nused to manipulate the victim so that the victim handed over the money,\u201d\nhe stated.<\/p>\n<p>Andaru also clarified information regarding the arrest of the two\nsuspects, which took place at a Korean restaurant in the South Jakarta\narea, whereas the fraud incident and transaction occurred at the Meruya\nApartment in West Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Metro Jaya Police emphasised that further developments regarding this\ncase will be officially announced by the West Jakarta Metro Police\nResort in the near future once the entire investigation process is ready\nfor release.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Metro Jaya Police arrested two foreign nationals from\nLiberia suspected of scamming their victim using the \u201cblack dollar\u201d\nsales modus operandi.<\/p>\n<p>Kompol Andaru Rahutomo, Head of the Public Information Sub-Section of\nMetro Jaya Police, in his statement on Thursday (26\/3) in Jakarta,\nconfirmed the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCorrect, two Liberian perpetrators were secured at an apartment in\nMeruya Kembangan, West Jakarta, for fraud using the black dollar modus\noperandi,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
