        "content": "<p>KPU to promote elections<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: The General Elections Commission (KPU) said on<br>\nWednesday it would launch the second program to disseminate<br>\ninformation on the 2004 elections between January and April.<\/p>\n<p>\"The promotion is aimed at encouraging people to exercise<br>\ntheir right to vote in the next elections,\" KPU member Valina<br>\nSingka Subekti said.<\/p>\n<p>\"The next elections will be different from the previous ones<br>\nas the ballot papers in the upcoming polls will show the name of<br>\nlegislative candidates.<\/p>\n<p>During the promotion, KPU members will hold meetings with<br>\ngovernment officials, civil society organizations and<br>\nbusinesspeople, and conduct election simulations.<\/p>\n<p>KPU will also allow public relations company Fortune to raise<br>\nfunds from the public and improve its participation to help the<br>\nKPU organize successful, peaceful and democratic elections.<\/p>\n<p>KPU has proposed an increase in the budget for the program<br>\nfrom Rp 75 billion (US$8,8 million) to Rp 115 billion. -- JP<\/p>",
