The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming\/Investment Coordinating\nBoard (BKPM) continues to strengthen the quality of the investment\nclimate through simplifying licensing services, enhancing legal\ncertainty, and facilitating the resolution of various investment\nobstacles, or debottlenecking. These efforts are undertaken to ensure\nthat investment projects can be realised promptly and deliver economic\nbenefits to the public.<\/p>\n
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming\/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani,\nin an official statement in Jakarta on Saturday, emphasised the\nimportant role of collaboration between the central government, regional\ngovernments, ministries and agencies, as well as stakeholders in\noverseeing investment implementation. According to Rosan, global\ninvestment is increasingly moving towards strategic sectors that will\nshape the future economy, such as digital infrastructure, artificial\nintelligence (AI), clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and critical\nminerals.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe next stage of downstreaming is not only concerned with minerals\nand their processing, but extends to digital infrastructure, technology,\ninnovation and industries that will determine future global growth,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
In addition to strengthening investment facilitation, BKPM is also\nencouraging greater business certainty through increasingly predictable\nbusiness processes. This is considered important because investment\ndecisions today take into account not only the domestic market and\nproduction costs, but also stability, business certainty, partnerships,\ninfrastructure reliability, and long-term vision.<\/p>\n
Speaking as a keynote speaker at the Jakarta Investment Festival\n(JIF) Summit 2026 in Jakarta on Friday (28\/8), he also noted that\nJakarta holds a strategic position as one of the main growth and\ninvestment centres contributing significantly to the Indonesian economy.\n\u201cJakarta has a very important role in this journey,\u201d said Minister\nRosan.<\/p>\n
Throughout the first half of 2026, investment realisation in Jakarta\nreached Rp173.6 trillion, or 17.2 per cent of total national investment\nrealisation. Jakarta also contributed 16.3 per cent to the national\nGross Domestic Product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2026. This\ninvestment realisation was supported by several key sectors, including\ntransportation, warehousing, and telecommunications with an investment\nvalue of Rp54.4 trillion, other services at Rp43.6 trillion, trade and\nrepairs at Rp28.4 trillion, housing and offices at Rp14 trillion, and\nconstruction at Rp12.9 trillion.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know that Jakarta contributes very significantly to total\ninvestment realisation in Indonesia, and if we look at it, Jakarta\nalmost always ranks in the top five, and this semester it is even ranked\nfirst,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
