        "content": "<p>The commitment was discussed during a meeting between Deputy Minister\nfor Investment and Downstreaming\/Wakil Kepala BKPM Todotua Pasaribu,\nPure Battery Technologies Chairman Stephen Wilmot, and Indonesia\nInvestment Promotion Centre (IIPC) Sydney Director Leidy Surianingrat at\nthe IIPC office in Sydney, Australia. Pure Battery Technologies\npresented its plan to develop a precursor cathode active material (pCAM)\nindustry using Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP) supplied from domestic\nHigh Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) facilities, with the long-term goal of\nbuilding a pCAM production facility in Indonesia. The planned investment\nvalue is approximately USD 350 million.<\/p>\n<p>Wamen Todotua stated that Indonesia already possesses HPAL facilities\nand will soon have battery cell manufacturing, leaving pCAM and cathode\nproduction as the missing links in the supply chain. He emphasised that\nthis investment is crucial for completing the national battery industry\necosystem, from nickel, MHP, pCAM, and cathodes to battery cells,\nthereby strengthening Indonesia\u2019s competitiveness as a hub for the\nelectric vehicle ecosystem. The investment addresses a gap in the\nmidstream supply chain and aims to optimise the added value that has not\nyet been captured domestically.<\/p>\n<p>The battery precursor stage is currently an undeveloped link in\nIndonesia\u2019s nickel industry chain and represents one of the highest\npoints of value creation, where the value of material increases\nsignificantly from MHP to battery precursor. By developing the pCAM\nindustry domestically, the government expects this added value to be\nenjoyed within Indonesia rather than abroad. IIPC Sydney Director Leidy\nSurianingrat confirmed the office\u2019s commitment to facilitating the\ninvestment process, including coordination with strategic partners and\nconnecting the company with relevant government stakeholders. Both\nparties also continued discussions regarding the establishment of Pure\nBattery Technologies\u2019 legal entity in Indonesia, options for the\nproduction facility location, financing schemes, and strategic\npartnership opportunities in the mining and nickel processing\nsectors.<\/p>",
