        "content": "<p>The Head of the National Civil Service Agency (BKN), Zudan Arif\nFakrulloh, has responded to discussions about the potential efficiency\nof the civil service (ASN) amid the development of artificial\nintelligence (AI) technology. Zudan said that AI only serves to assist\nthe work processes of civil servants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAI is a work aid that can accelerate certain work processes,\u201d Zudan\nsaid when contacted on Tuesday (25\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Zudan said that to date, all matters relating to ASN are still\nproceeding according to need. He also said there has been no further\ndiscussion within BKN regarding the AI debate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything is proceeding naturally, normally and according to need.\nIt is all reasonable, nothing is urgent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Deputy Chairman of House Commission II Dede Yusuf\nhighlighted the use of technological developments, including AI, in the\nperformance of civil servants. Dede raised the potential for efficiency\nin the number and performance of ASN as a result of AI utilisation.<\/p>\n<p>This was conveyed by Dede during a working meeting with the National\nInstitute of Public Administration (LAN) at the DPR RI building in\nSenayan, Jakarta, on Monday (24\/8\/2026). Dede said the use of AI can\nmake work more efficient that previously required several people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf previously we needed two or three people to create a\npresentation, now it is not necessary,\u201d Dede said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, digitalisation developments also need to be\naccompanied by an evaluation of the required number of civil servants in\nthe regions. He cited the example of sub-district offices that currently\ncan have dozens of employees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYet as we know, with digitalisation and so on, perhaps it should not\nneed to be dozens of people. Perhaps 15 to 20 people would be\nsufficient,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dede questioned the government\u2019s readiness to face these changes,\nincluding the possibility of reduced demand for civil servants due to\nthe application of technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow in this context, if we observe, will our civil servants in the\nfuture become a mass product or will there be a reduction?\u201d Dede\nsaid.<\/p>",
