Birth certificates free for the poor<\/p>\n
BENGKALIS, Riau: Bengkalis Regent Syamsurizal said on Saturday
\nthat the administration's policy of providing free birth
\ncertificates was only for the poor.<\/p>\n
\"Every application should be carefully examined to ensure the
\ncertificates are only given to the poor who are entitled to get
\nit for free,\" Syamsurizal said as quoted by head of the
\ninformation and media subdivision, Johansyah Syafri.<\/p>\n
Since the birth certificates are provided for free,
\neconomically disadvantaged families are not required to pay
\nanything, he said, adding that all the costs will be covered by
\nthe administration.<\/p>\n
He also asked the people to take part in monitoring the
\nimplementation of the policy. \"If officials ask for money, write
\ndown their names and report it to me,\" he said.<\/p>\n
This year, the administration has issued 7,000 free birth
\ncertificates for disadvantaged families living in 13 districts.
