        "content": "<p>Bird poaching declines in Irian<\/p>\n<p>SORONG, Irian Jaya: Researchers from the World Wide Fund for<br>\nNature (WWF) divide the famed bird of paradise, which is<br>\nprotected by law, into 11 species.<\/p>\n<p>Manokwari-based WWF researcher Duncan Nafile said four of the<br>\nspecies have \"antennae\" and are categorized into the king bird of<br>\nparadise, which are highly popular among Javanese bird lovers.<\/p>\n<p>Nafile identified the 11 species, by their Latin names, as<br>\nbeing ptilorii magnificus, cicinnurus regius, cicinius<br>\nmagnificus, paradiseae rubra, paradiseae minor, ptepidophora<br>\nalberti, paradiseae apoda, paradisae ragiana, lophorina superba,<br>\nseleusidis melano and cicinnurus resplubika.<\/p>\n<p>He said many of the species can also be found in the jungles<br>\nof the nearby Maluku province, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>Poaching king birds of paradise has declined in Irian Jaya<br>\nsince Indonesia passed a law on conservation in 1990, which<br>\nthreatens poachers with hefty fines and jail terms, he said.<br>\n(pan)<\/p>",
