        "content": "<p>Bintang files lawsuit<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Controversial politician Sri Bintang Pamungkas<br>\nfiled a lawsuit with the Jakarta State Administrative Court<br>\nyesterday asking that he be reinstated as a member of the House<br>\nof Representatives.<\/p>\n<p>A draft of the lawsuit, made available to the press, did not<br>\nname President Soeharto as the defendant, but asked the court to<br>\nrevoke a May presidential decree that led to Bintang's formal<br>\ndismissal from the House.<\/p>\n<p>Bintang, who is represented by lawyers from the Indonesian<br>\nLegal Aid Foundation, said his dismissal violated House's<br>\nprocedures and that he has suffered material and non-material<br>\nlosses, including his good name, as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Bintang was an elected member of the House representing the<br>\nUnited Development Party. His dismissal was initiated by party<br>\nleaders who felt that he had gone against the party's official<br>\nline on many issues.<\/p>\n<p>He is asking for Rp 5 million ($2,200) in compensation.<\/p>\n<p>The politician is currently being investigated by police for<br>\nallegations that he attacked the credibility of President<br>\nSoeharto during a speech in Germany in March.
