JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has
removed several promotional materials for the film “Aku Harus Mati” from
public spaces after receiving criticism from the public for potentially
disrupting psychological well-being, especially among children. The
enforcement targeted various forms of advertising, from banners and
billboards to videotrons at several locations in Jakarta. Head of the
DKI Jakarta Satpol PP, Satriadi Gunawan, stated that several materials
have already been taken down. “They have been removed temporarily up to
now—banners, billboards, and one videotron, so there are three,” said
Satriadi when contacted on Sunday (5/4/2026). The billboard reading “AKU
HARUS MATI” with red-eyed visuals was deemed inappropriate for display
in public spaces. Several netizens argued that the message could impact
children who do not yet understand the film’s context. Satriadi
mentioned that public response was one of the considerations in handling
this case. “This is also public control, that it is not suitable or
appropriate to display, because children’s psychology will be disrupted
by the statement shown,” he said. “So, it was done independently, not us
who removed it. We coordinated with the vendors, and Alhamdulillah, they
responded well. The vendors immediately took them down,” he explained.
The government is also continuing to monitor the field to ensure no
similar materials remain installed. The public is urged to play an
active role by reporting any advertisements deemed inappropriate. “If
there are any in other places, the public can provide information to
Satpol PP, or through social media channels,” said Satriadi.
",
