        "content": "<p>Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo presented Jakarta\u2019s\nstrategies for overcoming traffic congestion and developing public\ntransport to New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani during a bilateral\nmeeting at Civic Hall, New York, on Sunday (20\/9).<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, Mamdani specifically explored Jakarta\u2019s\nstrategies for tackling congestion and expanding public transportation\nnetworks.<\/p>\n<p>Pramono explained the development of the Transjabodetabek service as\nan effort to strengthen Jakarta\u2019s connectivity with its surrounding\nsatellite cities while simultaneously reducing the use of private\nvehicles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery day, more than four million people enter and exit Jakarta,\nespecially during peak hours. Through Transjabodetabek, we aim to reduce\ncongestion and the volume of vehicles entering Jakarta while\nstrengthening regional connectivity,\u201d Pramono stated, as quoted from an\nofficial statement on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Pramono informed Mamdani that the Jakarta Provincial\nGovernment provides free public transport services to 15 groups of\npeople, including the elderly, persons with disabilities, as well as\nstudents receiving the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and university students\nreceiving the Jakarta Superior Student Card (KJMU).<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Pramono outlined Jakarta\u2019s efforts to manage flooding\nthrough the construction of flood control infrastructure, the reduction\nof groundwater extraction to curb land subsidence, and the development\nof the Giant Sea Wall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSimilar to New York, one of Jakarta\u2019s challenges is flooding.\nTherefore, we continue to strengthen flood control infrastructure,\nreduce groundwater usage to mitigate land subsidence, and develop the\nGiant Sea Wall,\u201d Pramono said.<\/p>",
