The Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (KPwBI) in Tegal, Central
Java, continues to demonstrate its concern for communities affected by
the land movement disaster in Desa Padasari, Jatinegara Subdistrict,
Tegal Regency. Beyond humanitarian assistance, it has introduced the
“Love, Pride, and Understanding the Rupiah” educational programme.

A total of 223 pupils from classes 1 to 6 at SDN Padasari 1,
Jatinegara Subdistrict, Tegal Regency, were educated on “Love, Pride,
and Understanding the Rupiah” in the village on Tuesday (31/3). In
addition, they received bags and school supplies.

Post-disaster, children become a group requiring special attention,
not only for physical needs but also for psychological recovery. The
education is designed with a play-and-learn concept to encourage renewed
confidence and optimism among the children after the disaster.

Head of KPwBI Tegal, Bimala, stated that previously, as a quick
response to the land movement disaster, the office had distributed basic
food packages through the Tegal Regency Disaster Management Volunteer
Coordination Forum (FKRPB) on 28 February and 7 March 2026. Some of the
aid was also channelled to victims of the disaster in Desa Kajen,
Lebaksiu Subdistrict, for needs at the evacuation posts.

“Besides basic necessities aid, we also provided support for
evacuation facilities handed over to FKRPB Tegal Regency and witnessed
by the Tegal Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). The aid
was used to improve the flooring of existing tents, provide communal
worship spaces, and support the construction of new evacuation tents,”
said Bimala.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES AID

Bimala mentioned that to support the continuity of education for
affected children, the Bank Indonesia Employees Association (IPEBI) had
also distributed school supplies to 56 pupils of SDN Padasari 2 and 10
educators on 13 March 2026.

“Subsequently, on 31 March 2026, KPwBI Tegal again distributed school
supplies to 223 pupils of SDN Padasari 1 affected by the disaster. Some
of the funds channelled were the result of public fundraising by BI
together with IPEBI in the Semarak Rupiah Ramadan and Berkah Idulfitri
(SERAMBI) 2026 activities,” explained Bimala.

According to Bimala, not only material aid, but the activities were
also combined with enjoyable educational programmes, such as introducing
the Rupiah and interactive stories teaching the values of love, pride,
and understanding the Rupiah from an early age.

“Through this approach, children not only learn to recognise Rupiah
currency and use it wisely but are also encouraged to rebuild a sense of
security, togetherness, and hope. This fun educational packaging is part
of efforts to support the psychological recovery of children so they can
return to daily activities with full enthusiasm,” clarified Bimala.

She added that as the monetary authority, BI has a mandate to
maintain the stability of the Rupiah’s value. However, in disaster
situations, Bank Indonesia also plays an active role in supporting
community socio-economic resilience, including in emergency conditions
through education that builds optimism in the younger generation.

“This series of aid and educational activities is expected to
alleviate the burden on affected communities, accelerate socio-economic
recovery, and ensure the continuity of educational activities while
instilling positive values about the Rupiah as a symbol of national
sovereignty for the young generation in the affected areas,” she
concluded.
",
