In June 2026, sharia
banking financing reached Rp720 trillion, growing 11.43 percent year on
year (yoy).

Meanwhile, Third-Party Funds (DPK) reached Rp816 trillion, growing
13.13 percent (yoy). This is evidenced by the State of
the Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) Report 2025/2026, in which Indonesia
ranked fourth globally.

In addition, Indonesia also achieved first place in the modest
fashion sector, second place in the Muslim-friendly tourism sector, and
third place in the halal food sector.

“The potential for developing Indonesia’s sharia economy and finance
remains very large, supported by an inclusive, sustainable, equitable,
and stable sharia economic concept,” said BI Senior Deputy Governor
Destry Damayanti.

Destry conveyed this at the 2026 Sharia Economy Festival (FESyar) for
Eastern Indonesia (KTI) in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Friday,
10 July 2026.

Destry affirmed that inter-agency synergy needs to be continuously
strengthened to drive the development of the sharia economy and
finance.

Indonesia’s sharia economic performance continues to show a positive
trend, reflected in growth of 6.21 percent year on year (yoy) in 2025,
supported by acceleration in the Halal Value Chain sector.

Sharia banking performance also remains solid, reflected in financing
growing 10.42 percent (yoy) to Rp709 trillion and Third-Party Funds
(DPK) increasing 11.75 percent (yoy) to Rp792 trillion as of May 2026,
as well as an increase in the sharia economic literacy index to 50.18
percent.

“Through FESyar KTI 2026, Bank Indonesia is targeting concrete
achievements that have a real impact on the community,” Destry said.

In terms of financing access, Bank Indonesia is targeting sharia
financing distribution of Rp11 billion and turnover of sharia
MSMEs/business actors of Rp1.5 billion.

Furthermore, in terms of literacy and education, enthusiasm is
reflected in 3,223 registrants for the National Sharia Economics
Olympiad (OESN), or 124 percent of the 2,600 registrant target.

Halal Ecosystem Strengthened, Indonesia Targets Global Market
Opportunities

On the other hand, the halal industry continues to be strengthened as
one of the strategic sectors playing a role in enhancing the
competitiveness of Indonesian industry in the global market.

Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza said the halal industry has
an important role in supporting national economic growth while
strengthening Indonesia’s position in the Global Islamic Economy
Indicator (GIEI).

“We continue to accelerate the strengthening of the national halal
value chain through upstream-to-downstream industry development, halal
certification facilitation, strengthening halal industry infrastructure,
and synergy with various stakeholders. This step serves as a foundation
for enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian halal products in the
global market,” he said in his statement quoted on Saturday, 20 June
2026.

In line with efforts to strengthen the halal industry ecosystem, the
Ministry of Industry is also paying attention to compliance and
readiness of industry players in facing certain regulatory policies.

This step plays an important role in ensuring that the growth of the
national halal industry can proceed sustainably and is able to meet
domestic and global market needs.

Furthermore, ahead of the implementation of Mandatory Halal Phase II
in October 2026, the Ministry of Industry is also continuing to improve
the readiness of the industrial sector through various socialisation
programmes, mentoring, technical guidance, and halal certification
facilitation.

These efforts are made so that industry players not only fulfil
regulatory obligations but are also able to make halal certification an
instrument for enhancing business competitiveness.

According to Faisol, the biggest challenge in implementing Mandatory
Halal Phase II lies in the broad scope of industrial sectors that must
fulfil halal certification obligations as well as the importance of
ensuring comprehensive halal supply chain readiness. Therefore,
strengthening the national halal ecosystem is one of the government’s
main priorities.

In an effort to strengthen the halal industry ecosystem, the Ministry
of Industry is also giving special attention to Small and Medium
Industries (IKM). Through various mentoring programmes and halal
certification facilitation, the Ministry of Industry is strengthening
IKM capacity to improve product quality, expand markets, and connect
with the broader halal industry supply chain.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry is also accelerating the
development of Halal Industrial Estates as supporting infrastructure
that makes it easier for business actors to meet halal standards more
efficiently and increases the investment attractiveness of the halal
industry sector in Indonesia.
",
