        "content": "<p>Bank Indonesia (BI) in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province is\nencouraging foreign tourists visiting Belitung Island to use\nCross-Border QRIS alongside the upcoming opening of the international\nflight route from Belitung to Singapore by Scoot airline. Deputy Head of\nthe Bank Indonesia Representative Office in Bangka Belitung, Farid\nTamsil, stated that Cross-Border QRIS allows Indonesians and Singaporean\ntourists to conduct payment transactions using their respective\ncountries\u2019 payment applications. \u201cCurrently, Cross-Border QRIS can be\nused in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and most recently in South\nKorea. Tourists no longer need to exchange physical currency, making\ntransactions more practical and efficient,\u201d said Farid on Tuesday, 28\nApril 2026. According to Farid, the opening of the international flight\nroute from Belitung to Singapore provides an opportunity for business\nactors to more easily reach the global market while improving service\nquality for tourists. \u201cWe also want to ensure that all business actors,\nespecially MSMEs and the tourism sector, are ready to adopt and utilise\nQRIS, including for cross-border transactions,\u201d he said. Farid explained\nthat BI is committed to continuing synergy with local government,\nbanking, and industry to maintain ease of consumption for the public,\nparticularly through expanding digital system acceptance, increasing\nliteracy and education for the community, and ensuring the security and\nreliability of the payment system. \u201cWe believe that transaction\ndigitalisation not only enhances public convenience in transacting but\nalso promotes transparency and efficiency, ultimately contributing to\nregional economic growth,\u201d he added.
